Join our team for an accessible, non-judgemental, online support group for the caregivers of young people who are struggling in school.
Family School Success Meetings
Audience: Teens and Adult Caregivers
In these facilitated meetings, The Book Work team works with youth and adult caregivers to explore the root causes of school avoidance or behavior challenges and develop a plan for success in school.
Parent Cafe’ @ JCPS Schools
Audience: Adults Caring for Middle and High School Students
The trauma-informed Parent Cafes, offered in partnership with JCPS Family Resource Coordinators, are a space for supportive conversation and resources on school-related behaviors and challenges.

Youth Wellness Camp
Audience: Middle and High School Students
Coming in the summer of 2026, the weeklong Youth Wellness Camp builds leadership, mental health, and wellbeing skills for middle and high school students.
Digital Literacy Lab
Audience: Youth and Adults
Join the Book Works for group Digital Literacy Skills. We provide group lessons and address one-on-one technology questions for all ages.
Voices & Vibes
Audience: Youth
Check out the Shawnee Library for afterschool workshops, discussions and collaborative art projects that promote literacy, build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and connect teens with each other.
The Book Club
Audience: Youth 14 to 21 yrs
The Book Club is for youth who are interested in reading more and discussing social issues with peers. This group is availale to all school-age youth who want to practice reading at a 6th-7th grade reading level.
Spring Break Camp
Audience: Youth 14 to 21 yrs
Trauma-informed lessons for teaching middle and high school-aged students to healthily navigate emotions and relationships.
Youth Wellness Council
Audience: Middle School Students
A team of 20 middle school students meet monthly throughout the school year to learn about mental health and sharing their knowledge with peers
Social Justice & Advocacy Council
Audience: High School Students
A team of 12 to 15 high school students work throughout the school year to develop leadership skills while learning about policies and practices relating to equitable access to education.
